Meet Ken Hammann, a Lifetouch photographer who has spent more than 30 years helping schools preserve memories for students and families.
At 87 years old, Ken is still actively photographing school picture days and continues to bring the same enthusiasm and dedication that first drew him to Lifetouch in 1995.
A Passion for Serving Schools
After retiring from a successful career, Ken was looking for an opportunity to stay active and connect with people in his community. He found that opportunity with Lifetouch.
What started as a part-time role quickly became something much more meaningful.
Over the years, Ken has photographed thousands of students, partnered with countless schools, and witnessed firsthand how important school portraits become for students and families. Through it all, his passion for the work has never faded.
More Than Taking Pictures
Ask Ken what keeps him going, and the answer is simple.
He loves getting up early, heading to schools, and doing work that matters.
His personal philosophy is:
“Do what you’re supposed to do, and you’re a hero.”

Every Student Has a Story
One experience from Ken’s career has remained with him for years.
As a reminder of the importance of every student he photographs, Ken keeps a name card taped to the back of his clipboard.
The card belonged to a student named Andrew.
Years ago, Andrew was absent on picture day. Determined to make sure he wasn’t missed, Ken scheduled time to photograph him at a later date. Before that photo could happen, Andrew had to go to the hospital and never got the opportunity to have his picture taken.
The experience left a lasting impression.
Today, that name card serves as a powerful reminder that every student matters, every portrait has meaning, and every interaction is an opportunity to make a difference.
