Why Every Picture Matters

How Lifetouch and the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation are helping preserve childhood memories and support families.

These moments often feel ordinary while they are happening. Yet years later, they become some of the memories families treasure most.

At Lifetouch, we have spent nearly 90 years helping schools and families capture these milestones through photography. That is why we are proud to partner with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF), an organization dedicated to supporting children and families affected by pediatric brain tumors through research, advocacy, and family support programs.

Together, we are united by a shared belief: every child deserves to have their story remembered.

The Lasting Value of Childhood Memories

Photographs do more than document what a child looked like at a certain age.

They capture who they were.

A school portrait reflects a moment in time that can never be repeated. The excitement of a new school year. The friendships being formed. The dreams beginning to take shape.

For families, these images often become a visual timeline of childhood, preserving milestones that pass all too quickly.

As children grow, photographs help tell the story of their journey. They remind us how much can change in a year and how important it is to celebrate each stage along the way.

When Every Moment Carries Extra Meaning

For families facing serious childhood illness, moments that many take for granted can hold even greater significance.

A day at school. Time spent with classmates. A family photo. A Picture Day smile.

These moments become reminders of strength, resilience, joy, and hope.

Through its family support programs, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation shares stories that highlight the resilience of children and families facing pediatric brain tumors. Audrey’s mom shared what school portraits mean to her family:

“My favorite school picture of Audrey is from this spring before she graduated kindergarten. She looked so vibrant and healthy compared to last year’s spring pictures. She looked authentically herself. Pictures are extremely important to me, whether they’re professional portraits or snapshots taken on a phone. My dad died from Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2003, and I learned quickly just how important those photographic memories are. Tomorrow is never promised, so we take lots of pictures.”

Her words serve as a powerful reminder that photographs are more than images. They preserve milestones, celebrate childhood, and help families hold onto moments that become increasingly meaningful over time.

The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation understands the importance of helping families hold onto hope while navigating unimaginable challenges. Through family support programs, advocacy, and research funding, PBTF works to improve the lives of children affected by brain tumors and move closer to a cure. With a mission to Care. Cure. Thrive., the organization provides critical resources to families while advancing childhood brain cancer research.

A Partnership Rooted in Purpose

Lifetouch’s partnership with PBTF is a natural extension of our commitment to children, schools, and families.

Through this partnership, Lifetouch helps support awareness and fundraising efforts that benefit children and families facing pediatric brain tumors. The collaboration reflects our shared dedication to creating brighter futures for children while supporting families through life’s most challenging moments.

While PBTF focuses on advancing research and supporting families, Lifetouch continues its mission of helping preserve the milestones that make childhood so meaningful.

Because every child has a unique story.

Every milestone deserves to be celebrated.

And every memory is worth preserving.

More Than a Picture

A school portrait may start as a keepsake tucked into a photo album or displayed on a refrigerator.

Years later, it becomes something more.

It becomes a reminder of a child’s laughter, personality, dreams, and growth. It reconnects families to moments that shaped their lives and memories they never want to lose.

That is why Picture Day matters.

It is not just about taking photos. It is about preserving the moments that tell a child’s story.

And through our partnership with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, we are reminded that these moments are precious. Every smile, every milestone, and every memory deserves to be celebrated and remembered.

Because every picture tells a story.

And every story matters.
